Why you can’t change!

Deze onderwerpen triggeren me zo!

Angsten aangaan > F.E.A.R: face everything and RISE!.

The unconscious patterns that hold us back from truly living

Do you really want to create a life you love? When it comes to making change, 80% of people who try fail on a personal level fail.

Did you start the new year courageously with new intentions and good intent?

Stop immediately, you probably won’t succeed!

Wow, no! Just wait a minute….  Not so FAST!

I don’t want to discourage you, because it is possible, just not with the approach you’ve taken.

Less Netflix binge watching.
Fewer hours on your phone.
Get out of relationships, situations, or work that makes you unhappy.
Stop losing yourself when it comes to your diet, overeating or other compulsive behaviours with food.
Take more time to be present, living less in your head with constant worrying, overanalysing, and failing to control that which you cannot.
Try drinking less.
Seek the attention you need from yourself rather than looking for approval from others.
Eat less – emotionally and physically!
Ditch social media and let go of unhealthy habits.

We attempt to make changes over and over, yet half of all people who attempt to reach these goals stop after just three months

The beginning of 2019, the ‘resolution’, the reason for many to make yet another attempt to realise intentions and break old patterns.

Sadly, more than 80% of all who start out will fall back into old habits within two years!

Out of this group, two-thirds only last for around a month, after three months half stop and after two years, only 1 in 5 have continued with their behavioural changes.

Why doesn’t change work?

  • Focus on symptoms and not the real problem
  • Focus on the final goal instead of the actual steps
  • 95% of behavior runs automatically and is controlled by environmental factors
  • The fear of letting go of what is familiar/comfortable
  • A lack of patience and structured process as to how to proceed.

If you have followed me for a while you will know that I love sharing my knowledge and experiences with patterns/habits, what is needed to break them and how fear plays a role in this.

What I know to be true is that with willpower and motivation alone you will not succeed.  Nor will you with only your thinking and ‘knowing’.
So many people who say “I know …” fail to find a solution as well. That is why you are here.

Because, honestly, you wouldn’t be reading this otherwise.

Why is it that so many bow out after a few short months or even a couple years?
According to various behavioural scientists it is partly because our behaviour is controlled by unconscious influences. People are creatures of habit and we tend to do the same thing repeatedly in the same situation.

At first consciously, but later an association arises between the situation and a certain action and it happens almost automatically.

Guido Weijers had my favorite subjects in his New Year’s conference: patterns and fear.

In this he talks about an experiment with monkeys in a cage where a monkey climbs on a ladder and wants to grab a bunch of bananas. The other monkeys in the cage are sprayed (with cold water) at the same time. When this happens again the next time, the other monkeys knock that one monkey from the ladder.

This incident continues to repeat itself, even when the monkeys are no longer sprayed at a certain moment. Out of fear, they no longer grab the bananas.

In this way he highlights even more situations of conditioning and fear.

  • Why do we stand in line to hand in our water before taking flights? The situation of a liquid bomb has never happened!
  • Why do we continue to have six weeks of summer holidays that were once based on how children could reap? It would be much more appropriate to spread out these weeks, given the burn-out percentage and the pressure that young children are experiencing more and more often.

He tells us that we are stuck in patterns.

I resonate a lot with these topics! Every day I see people who can’t succeed in breaking patterns and changing them personally. With the necessary frustration and feeling of impotence as a result.

Why don’t these good intentions work?

  • Negative and restrictive thoughts that are often unconscious leave us stunted as to how we grow and deprive us of actual change.
  • Bringing ‘pain’ from the past into the present achieving the same undesired outcome.
  • Not feeling (good) enough, where our unconscious continues to tell us that this change is not possible.

The result that you achieve or do not achieve depends on conditioning and mindset.

Your subconscious is always active and responsible for 95% of your behaviour.

It is therefore necessary to first become aware of what’s actually going on.

What is it that stops you from building a new healthy pattern?

Do you also want to know the steps to really change with lasting results?

This is what we are achieving at the Being Moved Souljourney to Bali and I invite you to join us.

In this 8 day journey you will receive all the tools, insights and ACTION through means of movement, which are necessary to achieve change, growth and a life in which you feel that you are truly living instead of struggling against the tide.

Focus on the steps instead of the final destination
Behaviour that is unconscious is uncovered when it is mirrored.

Only then can you become aware and choose and do it differently.

Be stimulated to step out of your comfort zone! Enter Fears> F.E.A.R: face everything and RISE

Live life without training wheels, says Guido Weijers …

Do you want to grab the bananas again and not follow the crowd?

Colour outside the lines – break those patterns by doing things differently…with lasting results!
